You do not work on Windows
The Studio is a Windows 11 desktop app, with 16 GB of RAM as the minimum. Only the engine can run your suites on a Linux server, in Docker or over SSH.
Your tests stay Playwright, Selenium and pytest. We don't replace them. We make them enterprise-ready, and you own everything: code, evidence and history.
Five platforms teams use to run Playwright tests, next to Nexus Studio. What each one is, where your tests run, what the entry plan costs and how many tests it runs at once. Every price was read on 2026-10-13 from the vendor's own page, linked below.
BrowserStack, Sauce Labs and LambdaTest rent you browsers and devices in their cloud, and you pay for each session that runs at once. QA Wolf runs and, if you buy the service, writes your tests for you. Checkly runs Playwright tests on a schedule as production monitors. Nexus Studio is different in one way: it runs on machines you control, and it is priced per machine, never per parallel run.
Entry price means the cheapest paid plan that runs automated browser tests. Prices are in US dollars, list price, before tax.

Prices change and some plans are negotiated, so check the vendor's page before you decide. These are list prices of the entry plan, not a quote for your workload. Nexus Studio does not rent you machines, so it has no hardware to add to the cloud figures: you supply the machine. The cost calculator works out when a mini PC of your own pays for itself. Nexus Studio is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any company named here. All product names belong to their owners.
Each of these does something Nexus Studio does not set out to do.
Pick it when you must cover thousands of browser, operating system and device combinations, or test on physical iPhones and iPads. Nexus Studio runs Chromium, Firefox and WebKit as Playwright ships them, and real Android phones over USB.
Pick it when you want a hosted grid with emulators, simulators and physical devices, and enterprise analytics from the same vendor. Nexus Studio has no cloud runners.
Pick it when you want a low-cost hosted grid to run Selenium or Playwright across Windows, macOS and Linux without owning a machine.
Pick it when you want a vendor to build and maintain your end-to-end tests and investigate every failure. Nexus Studio gives your team the tools and the evidence, and your team keeps the work.
Pick it when the job is monitoring production around the clock from several regions with alerting built in. Nexus Studio schedules suites with Watch on your own machines, and alerts only when a state changes.
Where it runs, what it costs, and what the Studio itself adds. Each item below is a screen in the app.
Tests, results and evidence live on disks you own. The only connection the Studio makes on its own is the license check. Own your infrastructure
A real defect is told apart from a slow network, a bot challenge or a crashed browser. A retry that passes is FLAKY, never a quiet pass. The 14 verdicts
No charge per user, per test or per parallel run. Your tests stay standard Playwright, Selenium and pytest files, so there is nothing to migrate out of.
After a failure, the Studio replays the test to that line in the background and has candidate selectors ready. The run stays red until you choose one.
A 403, a 429 or a bot-challenge page is read as BLOCKED, not as a failure of your app, and never files a Jira ticket.
Phones connect by USB to the machine that runs the engine. No minutes to buy.
Every failure keeps its report, video, screenshot, console and network data, sealed in a SHA-256 chain of custody.
Each test is ranked on each identity by how often it flips, breaks or costs time, with a risk score computed over your own runs.
A test runs once per on and off variant of your flags, and the Studio names the combination it fails under.
Visual regression, WCAG checks, Web Vitals, load, security and chaos testing run from the same screens as your functional tests.
The executive report is a PDF with a release call (go, caution or no-go), coverage, stability, failures by root cause and security findings.
The Test Adapter imports existing Playwright and Selenium tests in JavaScript, TypeScript or Python, without rewriting them by hand.
Said plainly, and each point is true of the product today.
The Studio is a Windows 11 desktop app, with 16 GB of RAM as the minimum. Only the engine can run your suites on a Linux server, in Docker or over SSH.
Real phones on USB are Android only. iPhone and iPad are covered through WebKit emulation, not on a physical device.
It tests Chromium, Firefox and WebKit as Playwright ships them, on Windows. It does not run a catalog of browser, version and operating system combinations.
There are no cloud runners. You provide the machines: your PC, a mini PC, Docker on your machine, or a VPS you rent and reach over SSH.
The Studio checks its license online when it starts and every 24 hours. It keeps working for 7 days without a successful check, shows a notice for 4 more, then turns read-only until it reconnects.
The Test Adapter imports Playwright and Selenium tests in JavaScript, TypeScript or Python. Cypress, WebdriverIO, Robot Framework, Java and C# are not supported.
The Studio runs and judges automated tests. It has no screens for requirements, test plans or manual test cases.
Nexus Studio has no SSO and no SOC 2 report yet. It is a small company, and it says so.
For teams that run Playwright or Selenium tests and want them to run on their own machines, yes. For teams that need a catalog of thousands of browser and device combinations, no. Nexus Studio has no cloud runners.
Yes. Playwright runs locally, in Docker or on a Linux server. Nexus Studio adds the recorder, scheduled runs, verdicts and evidence on top, and runs on Windows 11 with 16 GB of RAM as the minimum.
No. The Nexus Recorder writes standard Playwright or Selenium code, and the files are yours to read, edit and keep.
The Individual plan is USD 79 a month or USD 790 a year for 1 machine, with every feature. Team and Business plans cover more machines. See pricing
